Starting an Ecommerce Business – Learn From My Mistakes!

So you have a great idea, a product that you are passionate about that you want to sell online. You know that you have a lot of things to set up, most importantly your website. Here are a few things to think about as you are getting started. First, unless you know how to do web design, you have to find someone to create your site for you. I know it sounds simple, there are thousands of people who advertise themselves as webdesigners on the internet, but take it from me do your research carefully. The costs involved can be very different depending on which designer you choose, we were quoted prices from $1,000 to $10,000 and unfortunately the price is not always going to guarantee a good finished product. As you are talking with web designers, even if you are new to selling online, try not to be to dazzled by the jargon and the impressive presentations, Webdesign use the same rules you would follow with a contractor who wants to remodel your kitchen. Do you have a

good feeling about this person as you talk to them, do they seem like they are listening as you describe what kind of website that you want, or are they just giving you the standard sales pitch? Get references of satisfied customers, not just sample websites that you can visit online, but email addresses or phone numbers of happy, satisfied customers that you can contact about their customer service, their ability to meet promised deadlines, and anything else that you need to know. If a webdesigner can not give you the names of any satified customers, then it is time to move on to the next one. Keep in mind that because of the nature of the internet, you will probably never meet your designer in person, so a good report from a previous customer carries even more weight than usual. สล็อตpgเว็บตรง

Second, make sure you know what you want in a website. Look at other people who are selling similar products online, what kind of site do they have, a custom website, a simple shopping cart, or something in between? Try to have an idea of what kind of site you would like before you start interviewing designers, that information will help you find the right kind of designer and help you communicate you ideas when you do find one.

The third thing to think about is the contract, make sure that it is based on a completion schedule, and not just a calendar schedule. I know that seems obvious, but I got myself into a bad contract with our first web designer, I was very impressed by his presentation, and ignored common sense when I was given a contract that stated that the incremental payments were due based on the calendar, not on the completion of our website. I know it sounds stupid, I knew better, but I ignored my intuition and signed a contract that gave me no real protection. The design process began, time marched on, mobile-casino payments were made, and ultimately we were out a lot of money and had no website. Ridiculous, I know, but take my advice, do not accept a contract based on anything other than a completion schedule. Voicemodcracked
